Richard Dormer

1969 -

Born in Armagh, Richard Dormer trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He was a founder member of the Belfast-based Ransom Productions and won the BBC Stewart Parker award for his first play, Hurricane. The play went on to win numerous awards and critical acclaim, transferring to the Arts Theatre, West End, London in 2004 and Off Broadway, New York in 2005. His other plays include The Half, This Piece of Earth and The Gentlemen’s Tea-Drinking Society. Richard’s work for Ransom has transferred to the Tron Theatre, Glasgow and has been showcased twice by the British Council in Edinburgh.
