Mícheál Ó Conghaile has published novels, short-stories, poetry and plays as well as having translated many other works. His plays 'An Fear a Phléasc and Seacht gCéad Uaireadóir' (2001), 'Cúigear Chonamara' (2003) and 'Jude'(2007) and 'Go dTaga do Ríocht' (2008) have all been premiered by An Taibhdhearc. He has won many awards, among them the Butler Literary Award and The Hennessy Literary Award (both 1977) and he was shortlisted for The Irish Times Literature Awards i 2001. He was elected a member of Aosdána in 1998. In 1985 he founded the publishing company Cló Iar-Chonnachta.
