Christine Dwyer Hickey

Christine Dwyer Hickey is a novelist and short story writer. Twice winner of the Listowel Writers’ Week short story competition and a winner of the Observer/Penguin short story award, her short stories have appeared in magazines and anthologies world-wide. Christine has been long listed for the Arts Council Laureate for Irish Fiction which will recognise an Irish writer of national and international distinction. She is a member of Aosdana and is both a director and a literary advisor to Listowel Writers’ Week. Christine has taught creative writing and given master classes in various venues including Trinity College Dublin, Listowel Writers Week and the Irish Writers’ Centre. She has delivered lectures on a variety of subjects, most recently - the influence of James Joyce on her writing (Abbey Theatre Dublin) and the influence of childhood on the work of writers (Kate O’Brien festival, Limerick). She is a regular contributor to radio and television shows. In March 2014 her first play, Snow Angels, debuted at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin in association with Rough Magic. Among her books are The Dublin Trilogy - The Dancer, The Gambler and The Gatemaker (1995-2000) - Tatty (2004), Last Train from Liguria (2009) and The Cold Eye of Heaven (2011).
