Ross O'Carroll-Kelly, Between Foxrock and a Hard Place

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Paul Howard

  • Setting

    Post-Celtic Tiger Dublin (2010)

  • Synopsis

It’s 2010, and the world as Ross knows it is coming to an end. Renard’s has closed, foie gras is half-price in Lidl, and now they tell him that Foxrock is about to be rezoned as – wait for it – Sandyford East.

Ross O'Carroll Kelly was once every boyfriend's nightmare and every girl's wettest dream come true. Now in the midst of a divorce and having piled on the pounds, the closest Rosser can get to a Leinster pitch is taking part in a half-time penalty kick competition (for thirteen-year-olds).

With his old pair splitting up and selling the family home in Foxrock, the house's once €17 million value has been butchered not only by the good old R word but by local council re-zoning plans.

Fresh out of prison, Charles devises a plan involving a lobbyist and a suitcase full of dosh. Enter a masked Gunman, and audiences will be left wondering whether the O'Carroll-Kellys manage to save their beloved postcode or even make it out of Foxrock - ahem, Sandyford East - alive.
