    The play is set during the papacy of his Holiness Eamonn I, a very revolutionary Pope, and deals in a light-hearted way with clerical marriage and the ordination of women. These and other radical new departures from traditional Church thinking are promulgated in the Encyclicals Aquae Vitae and Libra et Denarii.
