This play revolves around Thomas More and the events leading to his execution in 1535. King Henry desired a divorce from Queen Catherine in order to marry Anne Bolyn. In 1534, the King ordered that More swear an Oath of Supremacy, thereby recognising Henry as the head of the church in England. More refused to swear the oath, he was taken prisoner and on the sixth of July 1535, he was beheaded.
