  • Synopsis

An ugly old fairy, weeping and desperate, meets a young man in the woods and begs him to kiss her. He refuses, disgusted. She then asks the same of a young farmer and is refused again. The fairy has been placed under a curse by the Queen of the Fairies and is doomed to die before sunfall unless she manages to get a human man to kiss her willingly. Enter a scruffy tinker, a song in his heart and a bottle in his hand, without a worry in the world. He agrees to kiss the hag; no sooner has he done so than she sheds her wrinkled old skin and reveals herself as beautiful young woman. The couple fall in love, but it is not long before the fairy hears mysterious unearthly music calling her back to her own world. She disappears, leaving her heartbroken lover behind her.
