Douglas Hyde (Dubhghlas de hÍde)
The Seanbhean Bhocht places a curse on the Provost and fellows of Bubble College: they find themselves able to speak only Irish, a language detestable to them. The Viceroy arrives on a visit to the college, and is unimpressed by the Irish-speaking welcome he receives... A bilingual satire on Mahaffey, then Provost of Trinity College, who famously opposed the teaching of Irish in schools.
