Ó Mainnín, chief-superintendent in the Gardaí, has a plan to extricate himself from a promise of marriage he made to a girl he met at the 'Siamsa Gaedhael', because he has made a committment to another girl he met the previous week at the same Siamsa. He loses both in the end and must pay £500 in compensation to them. A farce set among Dublin's middle-class.
