Cistin Sheáin Uí Mhuireadhaigh i gCo an Dúin, 1908.
Widower John Murray, a farmer, lives with his daughter Mary and his brother Daniel, who has spent years ostensibly inventing a mechanical apparatus to make them rich. Now, however, John is proposing to re-marry with Sarah, a wealthy, sharp and thrifty local spinster. The idea proves quite unpopular with John's household, and as Mary and Daniel determinedly set about preventing the impending marriage, it ultimately falls to Daniel, the 'drone', to save the day.
