The King of Ulster is getting old and tired and his young Queen has started an affair with the hero Fionn Mac Cumhaill. When foreign invaders land, however, it is not Fionn who manages to drive them back but Goll, the King's teenaged son. Goll succeeds in overcoming the enemy and saving the honour of the men of Ulster, but is himself killed in the struggle.
