Description
Moving Theatre was formed in 1979 by Annie Kilmartin to bring live entertainment to Dublin audiences, performing in community centres, women's clubs, libraries and prisons. Moving Theatre's aim was to devise plays about issues that touched the hearts of its audience, providing entertainment for people who were not regular theatre goers.
Moving Theatre also devised and performed street theatre events including 'Nancy's Boy's In Town', which was performed outside the GPO during Ronald Reagan's visit to Dublin (June 1984).
MADCAP - Moving Arts and Drama Community Action Programme was an umbrella organisation of Moving Theatre.
The workshop company was set up to provide opportunities for creative activity and to encourage the development of new art forms. The project was intrinsic to the work of Moving Theatre and was run in collaboration with playschools, youth clubs, senior citizens and community environmental groups.
