Gerard trained as an actor at the Samuel Beckett Centre in Trinity College Dublin and later completed an M.Phil in Creative writing at the Oscar Wilde Centre, also at Trinity College. His debut novel, Forsaken, was published by New Island Books in 2014. Plays not listed here include Unlucky for Some, two monologues: "How Do I Look Now Darling" and "Closed Due to Robbery," (Theatre Upstairs, 2012) and One is Not Oneself (The New Theatre, 2014).
