PETER O'SHAUGHNESSY

Peter O'Shaughnessy was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1923. He made a name for himself as actor after moving to Britain in the 1950s, working for a time with the Bristol Old Vic, the Oxford Playhouse and the BBC Radio Repertory Company.As a director, he directed the Irish premieres of Beckett's 'Footfalls' and 'Not I' for the Dublin Theatre Festival in 1978. His play 'The Fabulous Journey of Mac Con Glin', co-written with Cork poet Anthony Blinco, won the Best Play award at the 1981 festival. Peter O'Shaughnessy spent a number of years performing Shakespeare recitals all around the world in association with the British Council. He currently lives in England.
