MICK DONNELLAN

Mick Donnellan completed the MA in Writing at NUI Galway in 2004. Since then he has worked as a novelist, journalist, travel writer, teacher and playwright. In 2011, he founded Truman Town Theatre and produced the “Ballinrobe Trilogy” of plays: Sunday Morning Coming Down (2011), Gun Metal Grey (2011) and Shortcut to Hallelujah (2012). His play, Radio Luxembourg, was adapted for the screen. Titled Tiger Raid and starring Brian Gleeson, Damian Molony and Sofia Boutella, it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2016 and was screened at Cannes, Edinburgh, and the Galway Film Fleadh. Mick has worked as a journalist and editor in Vancouver, Canada where he established a now thriving arts paper called Urban Pie. His first novel El Niño was published in 2012, followed by his second, Fisherman's Blues, in 2014. Mick teaches Writing at Athlone Institute of Technology and Theatre and Screenwriting at NUI Galway.
