Gregorio Martinez Sierra

1881 - 1947

Spanish avant-garde playwright, novelist and poet. His best kown work for the theatre is 'The Cardle Song' (1917). He translated Shakespeare and Maeterlinck and brought the work of Bernard Shaw and Pirandello to Spain.
