The Everyman, Cork, in the aftermath of a successful production of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard.
In an empty theatre, after the show has ended, a solitary actor stumbles in to find himself alone onstage. Under the illumination of the ghostlight, and facing the ghosts of his and the theatre's past, Baz brings the audience through the highs and lows of the night and the dark; memories that ambush him as he strives to keep the party going. Looking back at his career, Baz is in the midst of a personal crisis. But Nicki, the young resident stage manager, is not very sympathetic to his position. The play explores the whole business of theatre, and of performance itself.
