Paul Mercier
A group of young workers from the local supermarket rehearse and perform a play, written by the security guard, Chas, which has been entered for a Variety Show competition. The cast includes Stella, the star-struck hairdresser, who falls for Ritchie, a lame Teddy Boy and the show’s musical director; Thomas the skinhead who collects shopping trolleys; Belinda the mod who stacks shelves; Toni, the cashier with a puss, and Hughie who drives a forklift and everybody else around the bend. What begins as an earnest romance becomes an unintentional send-up of Kung Fu and vigilante movies.
