Leapfrogging

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Clare Dowling

  • Synopsis

Leapfrogging is a comical look at gender, power and desire. The play is set in modern-day Dublin, where Private Eye Phil has cleaned the city up real good. He is about to hang up his hat when Jack and Jill come up the hill and then, seduced by the beautiful sunset and a red apple, yield to temptation. Phil is back in business, trying to solve the biggest case in his career - the gender war. He goes undercover, and through his eyes, the play follows Jack and Jill through the years as one tries to assume power over the other. Jack and Jill struggle along the journey that started with the first bite of the apple, through patriarchal society, the feminist revolution, the age of new man and woman, to their resolution of the crisis.
