John McClelland
Whitehead, 1994.
James, an ex-Northern Ireland Civil Service man, has lived his life taking a stern attitude to family and responsibility and living by the motto of doing what's best. Now at the end of his days and lonely, he relies on memories, ghosts and home-help Isobelle for company until Evie, his emigrated daughter, makes a rare visit. A bitter reunion results as they struggle to create a real relationship after years of estrangement, pain and lies.
