Dome Sweet Dome

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    John McClelland

  • Notes

A play for and with young people in special schools (8-11 year olds) as part of a Theatre Residency programme, examining concepts of time and numbers alongside themes of addiction and the danger of strangers.

  • Synopsis

Mr and Mrs Millennium live in the Dome in a community which includes Big Ben and an assortment of orphaned numbers the Millenniums have rescued. Left on his own one day, Mr Millennium is bribed with sherbet into opening the door of the Dome to a stranger. It's The Bug, a nasty visitor who scrambles the numbers up and causes Big Ben to stop working. An anti-bug buster is called for, and the best in the business arrives. Brenda Bug Buster fixes the numbers and restores Big Ben, so that when Mrs Millennium gets home from her shopping trip, she finds the whole community singing and happy.
