John McClelland
Written for 8-11 year olds to support teaching about the Vikings at Key Stage 2 (UK curriculum) and also to explore notions of cultural identity and diversity.
Freydis Godsdottir, her father and brother have settled on the shores of Larne Lough. They are Vikings, traders, outsiders. It is important that they gain the confidence and support of Celtic prince Niall O'Neill. Old enmities, mutual suspicions and fresh catastrophes lead inexorably to a dramatic conclusion. Blood Lines focuses on the impact of Viking culture on Christian Celtic Ireland and on the legacies the Vikings left behind which are still with us today.
