John Banville
Heinrich von Kleist
With roots in classical mythology, God's Gift is based on the legend of a prince of Thebes, Amphitryon, whose wife, Alcmena, was seduced by Jupiter. This new version of the story is inspired by Heinrich Von Kleist's 'Amphitryon' and transposes the action to Wexford, against the backdrop of the 1798 Rebellion.
