Seafield. A coastal village in Southern Ireland. Late Summer.
Behind the crumbling walls of a coastal hotel, elderly Spanish Civil War veteran, Francis Shannon, struggles to stay faithful to the political and social vision which has guided his life. Around him the hotel's inhabitants play out their fractured lives in a desperate search for hope. In the course of a singe day and night, Shannon's public and personal worlds collide with dramatic and violent consequences.
