The play traces the lives of two young brothers, Cray and Skin, who live together on a remote farm. Their mother, Fanny, lives on a farm across the hill but is forbidden from seeing them. When the brothers grow two giant artichokes in their front garden the tumerescent plants become a catalyst that unleashes the hidden tragic events that have shaped their family history.
