Siobhan

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Ger FitzGibbon

  • Setting

Set in an upstairs room of a private house which is now used for university offices.

  • Synopsis

Siobhan, a university student who is clearly having difficulties of a rather undefined kind - she is shy, introverted, both dreamy and literal-minded, depressed. She has come to meet a lecturer who, due to complications in her own life, is not there. Other students arrive and depart. Siobhan waits in gathering darkness, the lecturer arrives and they talk, but although we - the audience - begin to piece together the hidden stories of these two women, they somehow collide off each other without ever understanding each other. When Siobhan leaves, we have a strong sense of the possibility of impending suicide.
