    Diana is the daughter of Conservative MP Sir Archibald Battersby, engaged to be married to the Prime Minister's eminently suitable and respectable careerist secretary. She, however, has fallen in love with the son of a well-known trade unionist, and now seeks to convince her parents of his worth by introducing them to new concepts and ideas.
