Donal Giltinan
Victor Patterson, a former national hero, married Deirdre, also a fighter for independence in their days of heady idealism. Victor is now a wealthy senator and with his sights set on a ministerial role but Deirdre's romantic idealism has failed her and she has taken to the drink. She knocks down and kills an elderly man while drink driving and Victor has to put everything at risk to cover up for her.
