Synopsis
Kate Keenan, a servant, is being pursued by two suitors, Dick Murray and William McKeown. The former is the more attractive, but the latter considered a steadier option, and Kate has to choose between the two. Murray, a ploughman, offers her a brooch, but on discovering it inscribed to another woman, she throws it away in disgust. Meanwhile McKeown, a most enthusiastic ploughman, purchases a lilac ribbon on which Kate has set her heart. Rather than a gift for her, however, he intends it for his horse's bridle at a ploughing championship. On discovering this, Kate decides to keep courting and marry neither.
