A patrician matriarch, long ago carried away by a man in brown boots to live in a house he built with his own hands, and in which she is forced to play the role of a goddess, finds escape at the hands of her son-in-law enabling her to live her life freely. Meanwhile her 17 year old grandson is finding his feet in the world of women.
