James Cheasty
Set in the Dolans' living room in an east coast provincial town.
Francey Dolan and his family are enjoying a ordinary life. Through a successful claim on an insurance company, they come into a great deal of money. Cheasty's play examines how this sudden influx of cash destroys the decent family. Francey buys himself a pub and unable to run it properly runs it into the ground. His youngest son gets a sports car and takes to the fast life of racetracks, golfclubs and assaulting members of the GardaĆ. The eldest son having been offered nothing is very offended and emigrates to England. All of this disintegration is watched by Mrs. Dolan, clad in her fur coat, as her hopes turn to ashes.
