Christine Longford
The action of the play takes place over a summer weekend, at Mount Oliphant, a country house in Ireland.
A comedy about the fashionable country set whose opinions about themselves and others are exposed by the reading of a personal diary of the 'colossal bore' Bobbie Prendergast. All of them, Bobbie included, are desperate to make a favourable impression on John Bateson, a famous stage producer, but he in turn has no interest at all in being used to further their careers, but considerably more interest in the pursuit of love.
