Spring

A Play in One Act

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    T.C. Murray

  • Setting

    Keimaniegh Village, springtime

  • Synopsis

With Lear-like undertones, 'Spring' focuses on the plight of an elderly grandfather, Andreesh, about to be turned out of his son Seumas’ house by his scheming daughter-in-law, Jude. Feeling that the old man is a burden to the family and would be better off in the workhouse, Jude forces Seumas to choose between herself and his father. A series of events climaxes with a viscious, and ultimately, deadly verbal attack on the old man. The play underscores the effects of poverty on three generations living under one roof and the question of how “the old must live too.”
