Mervyn Wall
Act 1: The interior of Malachy Ross's cottage at the entrance to the glen of Wicklow. Evening of a December day in the 1940s. Act 2: The drawingroom of Glengesh House. Two and a half hours later. Act 3: Three quarters of an hour later.
Among a cast that includes a writer, a Communist land agent, a priest and a police officer, Billiard Corry is the only one with a clear purpose. It has to do with the division of some land in the neighbourhood, an action that drives him ultimately to his death in a mountain snow drift.
