Lynn Doyle
A house in Newtownards in 1798.
In 1798 Newtownards, Henderson is accused of betraying his co-conspirators in the United Irishmen movement. Condemned to death, he is imprisoned overnight in the care of his old friend and night guard John Morrison. Henderson works on Morrison’s sympathies and the man eventually agrees to release him. The two decide to stage a scenario, so that it appears Morrison has been overcome by the prisoner, and tied up. But Henderson’s liberation spells disaster for the kindhearted Morrison as events take a tragic turn.
