The fictional Irish village of Spit; London & Paris.
Rua is a teenage lesbian growing up in the claustrophobic surroundings of a small Irish town. Frustated and bored, she struggles with an unsatisfactory relationship with her wiowed mother and occasionally engages in self-harm. Rua eventually escapes to the bright lights of Paris and London and is quick to embrace the hedonistic delights of urban club culture. Memories of her distant mother, however, linger.
