Giselle

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Michael Keegan-Dolan

  • Author Notes

A radical retelling of the Giselle legend.

  • Setting

The fictitious small town of Ballyfeeney in the Irish midlands.

  • Synopsis

'Giselle' is set in Ballyfeeny, where the cloud is always low and where people keep secrets for very good reasons. The dark brutal lives of the town's inhabitants are temporarily broken by the unlikely gaudy glamour of the weekly line dancing class. This is especially true for Giselle McCreedy, an innocent trapped by parochialism and ultimately betrayed by the false promise of escape. Despite the dark backdrop of their lives, the power of forgiveness, the precedence of sincerity, and the resilience of the human spirit, ultimately win out.
