Synopsis
In the Maum Trasna valley in 1882, a family of men, women and children were murdered. In the aftermath of the brutal massacre, mayhem erupts. Terror is rife in the country. Suspects are arrested. Two cultures collide. Dublin’s legal eagles confront men from a remote Connemara valley. Neither speaks the other’s language, leading to conflict, confusion, lies, and betrayal. Crucial evidence given in Irish is disallowed. An innocent man is hanged. Others get rough justice to enforce British rule. Performed bilingually with subtitles.
