Synopsis
Travel back in time to 1706 to a garret on St. Martin's Lane. Witness a 29-year-old George Farquhar, one of the best known and loved playwrights ever to come out of Ireland, as he struggles to write his last play, The Beaux Stratagem. The first playwright to give 'real' roles to women and to deal with divorce, he has lived life at a furious pace. Now he has six weeks to write his funniest play yet. As he wrestles with TB, he finds himself inspired by the unexpected friendship which grows between him and his landlady, Mistress Kempe, and by those events in his past that have made him the man he is.
