A distiller amounts great wealth by taking advantage of the fact that his house is located part in the free state and part in Northern Ireland to avoid paying duty. He sends his daughter to boarding school to "make a lady" of her; however her education causes her to take a stand against his immoral business dealings. She decides to marry the suitor who succeeds in putting an end to her father's illegal trade.
