All the Hours

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    William Lyons

  • Synopsis

Sister Bernard, a Cistercian nun of strict observance, has been confined to her cell. Following the rigid structure of ‘The Liturgy of the Hours’, this monologue backed by a psalm-chanting Greek chorus examines the fragility of religious belief and religious vocation. It is also a contemplation on what happens to the ‘natural’ part of us when we give ourselves over to the supernatural.
