Religious Knowledge

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Eamonn Kelly

  • Notes

Religious Knowledge was originally produced as a lunchtime production by The Comedy Cumann at the King's Head Bar, Galway, in 1994. The play received its professional premiere, as listed, as a companion piece to Parental Guidance (listed separately).

  • Synopsis

Religious Knowledge is set in the 1970’s when the power of the Christian Brothers had peaked and primary education was still controlled by the Catholic Church. This one-act comedy is set in the classroom of a Christian Brothers' school where three boys with very different characters, Fogarty, Dunphy and McQuaid, slip and slide around the ever watchful eye of the draconian teacher, otherwise known as The Brother.
