Tom Murphy
The First Act is set at the time the play was first produced while Act 2 takes place nine years earlier in 1963.
The White House was radically reworked and presented as 'Conversations on a Homecoming' in 1985 by Druid Theatre Company.
In a pub in a small western town three buddies meet up in anticipation of the return of a fourth who emigrated to England. Tom, Liam, Junior and Michael reminisce about the good old days. It soon becomes clear that nobody is happy and that life has dissappointed. In the second act, Murphy bring's us back to the day, nine year's previous, when the mood was more positive, change was possible and their futures were bright. That day was November 22, 1963.
