Dorothea Donn-Byrne
'Exile' Pat McCann has been living in Brooklyn for thirty years and has clearly prospered, running a Fancy and Oriental Grocery in a multi-ethnic immigrant neighbourhood. When his son buys him a ticket to visit Ireland, he is initially delighted, but on his return to County Armagh, he is shocked to find that his family find him 'stage Irish' while he finds their modernising instincts and attitudes uncomfortable. Father and son flee back to America, finding themselves more at ease there, and question the nature of what home and relationships are really about.
