    Lonely Hearts is a black comedy set in Paris around the time of the First World War. Henri Landru was a character reminiscent of ‘Jack the Ripper’. He was an incorrigible conman, who swindled over 300 French women, whom he met through placing adverts in the personal columns. He then seduced them and divested them of their financial assets
