Rutherford Mayne
The sitting-room of Peter Grahame's lodgings in Dublin.
Peter Grahame is an engineering student on the eve of his final exam. He has gone out and got drunk with two friends and dreams that night that he has failed his degree and is ejected from his lodgings. He gets a job with one of his pals in the Hotel Excelsior in Portahoy as an entertainer. He must sing, dance, play music, tennis, golf and lead walks all in the hope of regaling guests, so they'll wish to return. All turns out well for Peter in the dream, he has fun and wins the girl from the clutches of a privileged rival, but as for his fortunes in life, that remains to be seen.
