• Synopsis

  Máirtín Ó Méalóid is a student in the university of Baile an Chaisil in Galway and he is in trouble from all sides. He spends his time and his grant in the pub rather than studying or dealing with his many problems. He is also struggling with sexual matters - his girlfriend Nuala Ní Riain is heavily involved with the Legion of Mary which does not bode well for him. It is Easter Week of 1949 and the Taoiseach John Costello is about to declare Ireland to be a republic.
