Established in 1991, Corcadorca is one of the country’s foremost theatre companies. Throughout the years, Corcadorca has pioneered the art of theatre performance in unusual venues and has carved out a unique place for itself in Irish theatre. Among the most memorable site specific productions are: The Trial of Jesus on Patricks Hill, A Midsummer Nights Dream in Fitzgeralds Park, the multi-stage The Merchant of Venice and Woyzeck at Irelands Naval Base in Haulbowline.
In addition to its site-specific work, the company has also been committed to the development of new writing. Disco Pigs, written by Enda Walsh, was first produced by Corcadorca in 1995 and toured internationally in the late 90’s. The company has also commissioned and produced work from other Irish writers including Pat McCabe and Ray Scannell.
Corcadorca also resource and run the Theatre Development Centre, a unique studio space dedicated to the development of professional theatre. Established in 2011 and housed in the Triskel Arts Centre, Corcadorca make the space available to theatre makers free of charge so they may write, work with actors, develop the technical aspects of a piece and have a supportive environment in which to create work for the stage.
