MICHELLE READ

Michelle Read is a writer, theatre-maker and dramaturge. Originally from the UK, she trained as an actor at Middlesex Polytechnic and later received an M.A. in dramaturgy from Goldsmiths College, London. Her awards include the Hugh Leonard Bursary and the Eamon Keane Full-Length Play Award for ‘Snakelight’ (2009), the Stewart Parker/BBC Northern Ireland Drama Award for ‘The Other Side’ (2003) and a Fringe First for ‘Romantic Friction’ (1998). In 2011 she was commissioned by the Gaiety School of Acting to write for eighteen graduating students, resulting in the new play ‘Toxic’, which was performed at Project Arts Centre. She was a Theatre Artist in Residence at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght. She is currently a participant in Six in the Attic, an Irish Theatre Institute initiative.
