John Barrett

John Barrett, a Dubliner, was educated at Clongowes Wood and UCD. He was a professor of English at the University of Texas (Austin) 1965-69. Subsequently he returned to Ireland to teach in the English Department at UCD for a further 34 years. He has written plays for stage and radio and was awarded a residency as a Hawthornden Fellow in Creative Writing in 1991. His edition of The Selected Plays of Michael Mac Liammoir was published by Colin Smythe in 1998.
